The Only Person in Britain Who Likes the Logo for the 2012 Olympic Games

The orchestrated media campaign to undermine support for the logo for the 2012 Olympic Games is a great example of snap judgements being carried away by group think. The logo is absolutely wonderful. It is innovative, positive and capable of supporting an infinite number of variations. Congratulations to the designers, and to Lord Coe for staying the course and managing through this frenzy of media criticism. The best case for the logo is to look at all the weak examples provided by those who think they have a better idea.

Prediction: In 2012, all the media will be singing the praises of this same logo.

  1. Phew – I’m glad to read you saying that. I love it too. It reminds me of vorticist art, though I doubt that’s an intentional reference.

  2. Bill,
I couldn’t agree more. I think the logo is refreshing, original and daring! In any case, this is the typical reaction to this kind of event paraphernalia.
