Dieter Stein and other colleagues are organizing the latest in a series of conferences on open access, called the Berlin 6 Conference. It will be held in Dusseldorf, Germany, from 11-13 November. Do attend if you have an interest in the future of academic publishing.
I am hopeful that this debate is moving towards a full consideration of the wider range of issues linked to the future of academic publishing, including issues over the sustainability of the underlying business models. In this vein, Dr Frances Pinter, a Visiting Fellow at LSE, and a publisher at Bloomsbury Academic, will be giving a seminar at the OII on 21 November, 2008, 16.00-17.30, entitled ‘The Transformation of Academic Publishing in the Digital Era‘. E-mail our events office if you’d like to attend at events at oii.ox.ac.uk
